Open-Document/Close-Document fail with "Object does not match target type"

Description

After powerJobs Processor has been running jobs for a while, calling Open-Document/Close-Document fails with "Object does not match target type" and all succeeding jobs fail with the same error message.

Cause

This happens due to some very specific interaction between VaultInventorServer, the powerJobs Processor timed restart of VaultInventorServer and the restart of VaultInventorServer by Autodesk jobs

Solution

  • create a restart powerjobs task as described [here] that restarts powerJobs Processor every night at 00:00

  • Navigate to "C:\ProgramData\coolOrange\powerJobs\Jobs"

  • Open each ".ps1"-file and in line 1 add

PowerShell $Host.Applications["InventorServer"].RestartOptions.Interval = [timespan]::FromHours(25)

  • Restart powerJobs Processor
